Monday April 27th
Today we will be heading toward Lander Wy.
It was a cold wintery mix when we woke up in the morning , half of the time it was snowing the other half it was raining. The tempeture was in the low 30’s.
We were going to drive through Denver on I-25, we had some anxiety about pulling the camper though all of the traffic, so we did odds and ends of things,we had been putting off,and took our time getting ready so we would be going through in off times i.e. not rush hour or lunch time.
We entered in to Denver traffic, aroud 1pm. Staying on I-25.
We did well ,or I should say, Randy did well pulling the camper through the traffic, without any problems.
We went by Castle Rock heading into Denver.
When we came out of the north end of Denver we were on the high aird plains of colorado.
It is flat and very sparsely populated. Except for the many Antelope, we saw on the way.
The state boasts there are more antelope then people.
Randy was joking about how flat it was, saying if you face north and look real hard you can see the baçk of your head. Ha,Ha.
We made it too Rawlings, Wy. That night, and decided to camp in the Walmart Parking lot. We call it Boone docking.
We put the slides out, and ran the generator for a short time. It is primative in that you do not have water, or electricty except if you are running the generator, however it is noisy to run, and we did not want to disrupt shopers with the noise.
All in all there were about 6 others camping in Walmart that night with us.
We were able to cook, using our propane and we had heat using propane
Randy made a pot of chili, and I baked some sweet Potatoes in the oven for supper.
It would not of been bad, except Elsa had diarrhea, and had to go out about 5 times in the night before the immodium kicked in.
The next morning we got up and around, and contiued to head toward Lander.
The country side remained aird with a large amount of aromatic sagebrush.
However the landscape began to slowly change,
We were criss crossing the continetal devide, and slowly the landscape became more rolling with large rock formations. The soil was a deep rust color, rich in iron deposits, in many places.
-
We arrived to Gail’s house at about 1 pm. She lives on a ranch outside of Lander.
-
Gail is my brother Lee`s fiance`.She was so kind and had large pot of wonderful soup ready for us. Lee was in North Dakota for work but was on his way home and would be home in time for supper.
-
This A.M. we had a wnderful breakfast at Gails and then Lee, Randy and Gail headed out on their bicyles for Sink Canyon.I followed in the pickup to pick up straglers, or to rescue anyone in trouble. It was a beautiful ride of a little over 9 miles one way.
-
Sink Canyon was beautiful.
-
That night We all went out for supper and afterward Gails Mom and Dad had us over to their house for some homemade raspberry icecream.
-

Hungry crew on the back porch, Gails dad Jim (rt) Lee (ct), Randy (lt). It was the end of a wonderful day spent together.
In the a.m. Randy and I will have to leave to head toward Montana.

Love the pictures; keep them coming.
